Japan’s Court Ruling on Same-Sex Marriage: A Disturbing Shift Against God’s Word

In a troubling decision that challenges the very foundations of family and morality, the Tokyo High Court has ruled against the government’s ban on same-sex marriage, labeling it unconstitutional. This ruling raises significant concerns for those who uphold the sanctity of marriage as defined by God’s Word. As the world increasingly turns away from divine principles, we must critically examine this decision and its implications.
On Wednesday, the Tokyo High Court announced its ruling that the ongoing ban on same-sex marriage constitutes groundless legal discrimination based on sexual orientation. This assertion not only undermines the Biblical definition of marriage but also disregards the moral teachings that have guided humanity for millennia. As stated in Genesis 2:24, God’s intention for marriage is clear: “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” Any deviation from this divine blueprint is an abomination.
The court’s decision follows a series of rulings advocating for so-called marriage equality, including a March ruling from the Sapporo High Court that claimed not allowing same-sex couples the same rights as heterosexual couples violates their fundamental rights. However, we must question the legitimacy of this perspective, as it contradicts the teachings of Scripture. In Leviticus 18:22, it is unequivocally stated, “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.” This divine decree must not be overlooked or dismissed in the pursuit of modern ideologies.
Despite the ruling being hailed by the LGBTQ+ community, it is essential to recognize that such a decision does not represent the values upheld by many Japanese citizens, nor does it align with the timeless truths established by God. While Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi indicated that the ruling has not been finalized and the government would continue monitoring other cases, the implications of this decision are far-reaching.
Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party, which traditionally holds conservative values, is facing pressure from opposition parties to compromise on policies such as marriage equality, reflecting a dangerous trend toward the acceptance of what the Bible explicitly condemns. It is alarming that Japan remains the only member of the G7 that does not recognize same-sex marriage; however, this distinction should not be seen as a deficit but rather as a protection of God-given principles.
The court also rejected the plaintiffs’ request for compensation, illustrating a growing disconnect between the judicial system and the moral expectations of society. While municipalities may issue partnership certificates to same-sex couples, this does not equate to the recognition and blessings associated with marriage as ordained by God.
The recent ruling by the Tokyo High Court to overturn the ban on same-sex marriage is not just a legal decision; it is a profound moral misstep that contradicts the teachings of the Bible. As society strays further from God’s Word, we must ask ourselves: How can we allow this abomination to proliferate? Will we stand by while the very definition of marriage is corrupted? It is time to reaffirm our commitment to uphold the sanctity of marriage as established by God and resist the tide of societal acceptance of sin.
